Why RIEp?
Rationale
By participating in these strategic design research projects, both staff and students have the opportunity to explore, experiment, develop and expand their specialist design skills. These are learning and knowledge that is required by overt changes in the future landscape of design.

It is also an opportunity for collaborative teams to come together to cooperate and work in a multi-dimensional, inter-disciplinary project with industry. Oftentimes, when these project opportunities cumulatively results in creative ideas and concepts that translate into innovative products and meaningful services, the teams get to realize their ideas into reality. Partnership with industry leverages real world values.
To stay ahead of the curve, all designers must improve their knowledge and quality of their designs by broadening their experiences, skills and training. Cross-disciplinary subjects and training in collaborative design will enable staff and students to think holistically and strategically. These research projects will push the envelope further to go beyond design to engage issues that are not just commercially relevant but yet ecologically and socially bias to ensure an aggregated learning/caring experience for all.
